1. Eligibility for Membership:

  • Membership is open to individuals who:
    • Are practicing Muslims.
    • Permanently reside in Ontario, Canada.
    • Are 18 years of age or older.

2. Membership Types:

  • Individual Membership: Covers a single individual.
  • Family Membership: Covers:
    • The member.
    • Their spouse.
    • Dependent children up to the age of 25.
  • A dependent child who marries before turning 25 is no longer covered under the family membership and must apply for their own individual membership. The registration fee will be waived for such cases.
  • Parents of a member are not considered dependents, even if residing at the same address. They must apply for separate memberships. The registration fee will be waived for parents of active members.

3. Membership for Individuals 65 and Older:

  • Individuals aged 65 or older may apply for membership if they have a registered and active offspring who is already a member of Muslim CARE.
  • Individuals aged 65 or older and their offspring may apply for membership concurrently.

4. Registration and Activation:

  • A one-time, non-refundable registration fee is required for all new memberships (except for dependent children who marry before 25 and parents of active members).
  • Membership becomes active 90 days after the Muslim CARE Committee approves the application. This is known as the “waiting period.”

5. Member Responsibilities:

  • Updating Information: Members are responsible for providing and promptly updating any changes to their personal information, including:
    • Dependents
    • Banking details
    • Current address
    • Telephone number
    • Email address
  • Contribution Payments: Members must maintain good standing with their contribution payments.
  • Members are responsible for any charges incurred due to insufficient funds (NSF), such as bank fees.

6. Membership Suspension:

  • Membership will be suspended if a member fails to make three contribution payments within a calendar year.

7. Membership Withdrawal (Cancellation):

  • To withdraw from membership, a member must submit a written notice to the Muslim CARE Committee.
  • The registration fee and any contributions made are non-refundable.

8. Membership Reactivation:

  • Former members wishing to reactivate their membership must pay the lesser of:
    • The total amount of missed contributions.
    • The initial registration fee.
  • A new 90-day waiting period will apply upon reactivation.
